FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do companies need to meet any requirements before purchasing renewable energy?
Yes. Companies must install a Taipower-qualified smart meter and be enrolled in a “time-of-use” rate plan.
2. Once we sign a CPPA, how long will it take to start wheeling?
After the contract is signed, W Power will submit the wheeling application to Taipower. The process typically takes about 2–3 months.
3. How is renewable energy consumption calculated?
Smart meters installed at both the generation and consumption sites record electricity data at 15-minute intervals. Consumption is matched against generation for each interval, and Taipower calculates the actual wheeled renewable energy based on its official formula. W Power will then issue a monthly bill along with detailed wheeling records.
4. If the venue is leased from a third party, can I still purchase renewable energy via CPPA?
Yes. Even if your venue is leased, you can still purchase renewable energy. The process may vary depending on specific circumstances, so we recommend contacting W Power for personalized guidance.
5. Will renewable energy be unstable due to weather—causing outages or power disruptions?
While renewable energy generation is weather-dependent, W Power mitigates risks by diversifying across multiple power plants to ensure supply stability. In addition, all renewable energy is delivered through Taipower’s grid, so your electricity reliability will not be affected by purchasing renewable energy.
6. Does purchasing renewable energy fully achieve carbon reduction? Can W Power provide any other solutions for carbon reduction?
Purchasing renewable energy effectively reduces Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, but achieving net zero also requires addressing Scope 3 emissions. Additional measures—such as purchasing carbon credits—may be needed to offset residual emissions. W Power offers comprehensive support, including carbon credit procurement, supply chain decarbonization, overseas renewable sourcing, and energy efficiency solutions, helping you close the final gap toward carbon neutrality.
